How Do I Use A Proxy Server?

Please be warned that the use of proxy servers without the permission from the owner of the proxy server may be illegal in some states and/or countries. Use them at your own risk.

1) Go to your favorite search engine and use keyword “proxy server list”. You will find many sites come with lists of proxy servers, their IP address, port they used, and the country they are in.

2) Configure your browser settings.

For Internet Explorer 8.0:

1) Click on Tools menu, and select Internet Options.
2) Click on Connection tab, and select LAN settings.
3) Under Proxy server, check Use a proxy server for your LAN.
4) In Address box, type the IP address of the proxy server.
5) In Port box, type the port number that is used by the proxy server for client connection.
6) You may check Bypass proxy server for local address. This may speed up performance for connection to local network.
7) Click OK to close LAN Settings dialog box.
8 ) Click OK again to close Internet Options dialog box.

For Firefox 3.0 and Flock 2.0:

1) Click on Tools menu and select Options.
2) Click on Advanced icon and select Network tab.
3) Under Connection, click on Settings.
4) Under Setting you can choose “Auto-detect proxy settings for this network” or “Manual proxy configuration”.
5) If chose “Manual proxy configuration”, enter the IP address of proxy server in HTTP Proxy box.
6) Enter the port of proxy server in Port box.
7) Click OK to close Connection Settings dialog box.
8 ) Click OK again to close Options dialog box.
