What is a Broadband Internet Service?
Broadband internet service is high speed service and it is most used form of internet access. Broadband offered in four different forms: DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), fiber-optic, cable and satellite.
1) DSL internet service is a service that allows user to access the internet without using telephone wire. So there is no interruption to the use of telephone.
The speed of DSL depends on the distance of use’s home and the switching station. If their home is nearer the station, they will get faster speed. If their home is farther from the station, they will get slower speed.
2) Cable connection is normally provided by cable TV provider. The speed of cable internet service will depend on the number of users at the specific point in time. All users in a specific geographical area share the speed of internet connection and they will experience slower speed when more users use it. At peak hour, user will experience slower speed, and at off-hour, they will experience faster speed.
3) Fiber-optic internet service is the fastest internet connection. It is much faster than DSL and cable service. However, the service areas are still limited because laying down the fiber-optic cable may take some time to complete.
4) Satellite is the latest broadband service. It is also the slowest connection. It is a good replacement for dial up for users in remote area.
